Oxclose is a high achieving (58% 5 A*-C including Maths and English) school which has received national recognition for its improvements over recent years.  In 2008 we were the 7th most improved school nationally and were in the top 5 nationally of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust schools covering 2005-2008 attainment.  We have completed a BSF building programme and our learning environment and ICT facilities are outstanding.

“The school is an orderly, caring community founded on good relationships between staff and students.  Pupils respond positively and they are confident and demonstrate respect for themselves and each other". (OfSTED 2008)

These posts are the result of our continuing growth and development. From September 2009 we require the following full time permanent appointments. We are looking for committed, innovative teachers to join our expanding school community.  Successful candidates will be expected to teach successfully to all abilities in all year groups throughout Key Stage 3 and 4.  You will join a supportive and forward looking staff and a school that is committed to further your professional development.

The secondary schools in Washington and the City of Sunderland College have created an innovative jointly managed 14-19 provision, including a jointly managed 6th form.

Oxclose Community School safeguards and protects its students and staff by being committed to respond in accordance with Sunderland ACPC Child Protection; known as Local Safeguarding Procedures.

Full information and application packs are available from the school. Prospective candidates are welcome to visit the school.
