Rewards:

The school aims to promote high standards of behaviour, self-discipline and learning through positive encouragement and reward. When you do something well your teacher will recognise this by speaking to you in class, writing comments on your work and giving high marks.

Outstanding effort or achievement may be rewarded through the school Certificate of Achievement Scheme. Merits earned in this way contribute to the award of certificates by the Headteacher at the end of each term, and to your annual Record of Achievement booklet. A Celebration of Achievement Evening is held for each year group once a year.
Sanctions:

If you fail to meet the required high standard of behaviour then you should expect to be punished.

You may be kept in detention for up to 10 minutes without notice. Longer detention may be imposed and your parents will receive 24 hours written notice explaining the reason why and the length of the detention.

You may be placed 'on report'. Each teacher will write a comment after every lesson and the report will be checked by your Head of Year and sent home for your parents to sign each day.

Some students are placed on red report to a senior member of staff.

In serious cases you may be excluded from school for a period of time and then invited to come in with your parents and agree to accept a written Code of Conduct before being re-admitted.

As a last resort, students may be expelled from the school and the reasons notified to School Governors and the LEA.

Some students may be placed in 'internal exclusion' for a day and have their breaks and lunches separated from the rest of the school.
