Punctuality and Attendance:

Good punctuality and attendance records are essential. These are qualities valued at schools and colleges and by future employers. Remember, you must bring a signed, dated note from a parent or guardian to explain any absence from school. This is essential if you are to avoid having 'unauthorised absences' on your school report, in your Record of Achievement and referred to in your school reference.

What time should I be at school?

You must be ready to start school when the doors open at 8.30am. You should go straight to your form room for Registration. In the afternoon you should be at lesson four at 1 :OOpm. If you are not there then, you are late.
If you arrive in school after 8:40am or 1 pm then you must report to our Attendance Officer who is located in the Student Services Department. The parents of students who fail to attend or do not sign in late will be contacted by telephone or contacted via our text messaging service. Arrangements can be made for parents to monitor attendance on a more regular basis if necessary.

What if I am ill?

Regular attendance is essential, however, if you are too ill to work or come to school then you should stay at home. Your parent should phone the Attendance Team at the school before 9:00am to let us know. We operate a 'first day response' system. This means that a member of our Attendance Team will ring your parents if you are absent and have not informed us. This is to ensure your safety.

What if I need to go to the Dentist or Doctors?

It is best to make medical appointments outside school hours, unless it is a real emergency. If you must leave school during the day for any reason then please bring a note from your parents in advance of the date. You must collect a pass from the main school office.

What if I am going on holiday?

We have 12 weeks holiday every year. Your family should arrange to go on holiday then. If this is impossible, they must contact your Head of Year to discuss the holiday and complete a holiday form requesting permission
from your Headteacher to be absent from school. You are not automatically granted an authorised leave of absence to go on holiday in term time.
