Expectations:

Responsibility in Lessons

Arrive on time, ready and with the necessary equipment for the lesson
Listen when the teacher is giving us instructions or when others are sharing ideas with the group
Make sure that the work area is safe; bags and coats must be removed and put under tables or on chairs
Respect the right of every individual person to be able to learn without distraction
When the lesson has ended then we put on our outdoor clothing, pack bags and tidy up the classroom, when the teacher tells us to
At all times we will carry out any reasonable requests made by members of staff without an argument
Leave the room in an orderly and courteous manner.

Anti-bullying:

Bullying may be verbal or physical and will not be tolerated by the school in any form whatsoever. If you are the victim of bullying, or if you observe incidents involving others, do not hesitate to inform Mrs Allison, Anti-Bullying Co-Ordinator, or any member of staff. You should not put up with bullies in your group of friends.

School Definition of Bullying:

"Bullying is about taking away someone's self-respect and confidence and using any behaviour that hurts, threatens or frightens them". This includes racist remarks, jeering, swearing at, laughing at, name calling, isolating and all forms of physical violence.

Oxclose Community School will not tolerate bullying behaviour.

School Statement:

At Oxclose we aim to:

Offer equality of learning opportunity for EVERY child
Build and enhance EACH child's self esteem
Respect and treat each other with consideration, courtesy and kindness

It is with these priorities in mind that our anti-bullying policy has been formulated. It includes guidelines for staff (teaching and non teaching), parents and students as well as prevention work through the tutorial programme and within other curriculum areas e.g. dance and drama. It is hoped that by having a whole school approach to the problem we can bring bullying out into the open so that students can feel safe to report incidents and challenge bullying behaviour.
